So I researched a bit, and my conclusion is that there is no way to pass my host GPU through to the guest VM using VMWare Workstation.. at least not the free version. Does anyone know if the pro version, or some version of VMWare Workstation would let me do this?

Open VM preferences and navigate to Display - there check "Accelerate 3D graphics" and select maximum amount of Graphics memory. Other than that you cant select directly to passthrough your GPU to a VM in a workstation.
